Thomas Consultants was contracted by a large manufacturing company to conduct asbestos surveying, compile asbestos management reports, and manage asbestos remediation at one of their steel plants. Testing involved the surveying of 11 buildings for asbestos-containing materials, ranging in size from commercial offices to large production facilities. Most of the buildings were occupied at the time, so surveying was conducted after-hours to minimise disruption to production.
Following our initial asbestos testing, Thomas Consultants managed the remediation of asbestos-containing materials from the buildings within the steel plant. The project required Thomas Consultants to manage asbestos removal and remediation contractors in accordance with New Zealand asbestos regulations and best-practice guidelines. Timely management of these processes was key to the remediation works being completed on schedule.
